Privacy policy
What we store, why, and how you can delete your data.
Who is the data controller
Dmytro Fenko, UK sole trader, trading as SpeakMove. Address for service of documents: Weston-super-Mare, UK.
Registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller. Registration number ZC141876 — verify at ico.org.uk.
Data contact: hi@speakmove.app.
Who can use the service
SpeakMove is intended for users aged 18 and over only. The bot's scenarios (landlord call, GP, work coach, bank, job interview) are adult life situations.
By using the service you confirm you are 18 or over. If we discover data was collected from a minor — we'll delete it and block the account.
Voice recordings and biometric data
Voice recordings are technically classified as biometric data under GDPR Art. 4(14). Important things to know:
- Voice is used only for speech-to-text recognition. It is not used to identify you by your voice
- Recordings are deleted within 24 hours after transcription
- Voice is not used to train third-party AI models
- Voice is not shared with third parties except the transcription sub-processor (see below)
- You can withdraw consent at any time — cancelling the subscription stops voice processing
Legal basis for voice processing: performance of contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) + explicit consent to speech processing (Art. 9(2)(a)) collected on first bot launch.
What we store
SpeakMove is a Telegram bot for practising spoken English. We keep a minimal data set:
- Telegram ID — to link your account to your subscription and progress
- Feedback language (Russian or Ukrainian) — picked on first launch
- Voice recordings of your replies — processed and deleted within 24 hours
- Text transcripts of your speech — kept for progress and session history, you can delete them in
/settings - Subscription status — managed via Stripe (subscription id, paid_until)
We don't ask for your name, surname, address, date of birth or other personal details.
Why we store it
To deliver the service: hold the conversation, give you feedback in your native language, track progress, bill the subscription.
Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6): performance of a contract (subscription service) and legitimate interest (operational support of the service).
Sub-processors
Parts of your data flow through external providers so the service can work:
- Stripe — subscription payment processing (UK, GDPR-compliant)
- AI provider for speech recognition — your voice is transcribed to text for downstream processing
- AI provider for reply generation — the transcript text is used to generate feedback and the bot's replies
- AI provider for speech synthesis — generates the bot's English voice reply
- Telegram — the messenger you interact with the bot through
- EU hosting provider — for application logic and the database
All sub-processors are GDPR-compliant and do not use your data to train their own models. A full vendor list is available on request — write to hi@speakmove.app.
How long we keep it
- Voice recordings: up to 24 hours after receipt. Used only for transcription, deleted automatically
- Text transcripts: until you delete them in
/settings - Telegram ID and subscription status: while the account is active + 30 days after cancellation
- Billing history (Stripe): 7 years — required by UK tax law
Your rights
Under GDPR (Art. 15–22) you have the rights to:
- Access — get a copy of all your data
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — ask us to delete all your data (right to be forgotten)
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Restriction — ask us to restrict processing
- Objection — object to certain types of processing
To exercise any of these — email hi@speakmove.app. We'll respond within 30 days (usually within 48 hours).
If you believe we're breaching GDPR — you can complain to the UK ICO: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Data transfers outside UK/EU
Some sub-processors (for example AI providers) may process data in the US or other jurisdictions. Transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or UK/EU adequacy decisions.
Changes to this policy
If the policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes — notification via the Telegram bot or email.
SpeakMove is currently V0 (early version). If V0 testing leads to a different legal structure (UK Ltd), we'll notify in advance.
